SENI KHAT KUFI MURABBA’

Khat Kufi adalah salah satu cabang seni kaligrafi Islam dan merupakan yang tertua. Ia digunakan secara meluas dalam penulisan Al-Quran suatu ketika dahulu sebelum khat-khat yang lain muncul. Kufi atau kufic sebenarnya berasal dari perkataan “Kufah” iaitu nama sebuah bandar di Negara Iraq di mana seni khat ini mula-mula digunakan dan dipopularkan. Pada zaman permulaan penulisan di Kufah, Al-Quran ditulis menggunakan tulisan Kufi tanpa ada baris, tidak  seperti apa yang kita baca pada hari ini. wallah'ualam

From at least the ninth century onward, volumes of the Koran were embellished with designs in color and gold. The folio on the left marks the beginning of chapter 35, titled al-Sabah (the angels).

These pages are from one of the grandest Korans to survive from the Muslim Middle Ages. The Koran was most likely created at Kairouan, in the workshop of the calligrapher 'Ali ibn Ahmad al Warraq.

This Koranic fragment includes verses 35-36 of the 40th chapter of the Koran entitled al-Ghafir (the Forgiver), also known as al-Mu'min (the Believer).
